Brothers and sisters!
Muaz b. Cebel was a companion of the Prophet who converted to Islam at a very young age. He felt deep compassion for the Prophet. The Prophet (pbuh) was also fond of Muaz and would voice this and would give him advices. One day our Prophet had given the following fundamental advice to Muaz about the notion of being a subject of Allah and living accordingly: “Oh Muaz! Read the following prayers after salaat: “Dear Almighty Allah, help me always call out your glorious name, thank you for your blessings and worship you in the best possible way.”1
Dear brothers and sisters!
Eternal gratitude to the Almighty as we leave behind a prosperous season. During this period the blessings of the Almighty rained upon us. These days we are happy and hopeful. We are happy because our brothers and sisters have completed their holy Hajj voyage. The prayers of the believers at Arafat and Kaaba reached the skies and embraced all of us. We are happy because we are all celebrating Eid al Adha which marks the foundation of the nation of Islam by Prophet Abraham. We are happy because through our sacrifices we have proven our loyalty and submission to the Almighty and the notion that we are the servants of Allah.

Friday Prayer – Jumuah Khutba

Brothers and sisters!
We are hopeful because through Hajj, our sacrifices and Eid al Adha we have had the opportunity to cleanse ourselves, get rid of sins. We have been blessed with the good news of resurrection and elevation to supremacy. This period of prosperity lifted the distances between us. We became closer to each other and ourselves. Our spirits which have been imprisoned in our bodies have drawn closer to the Almighty.
Brothers and sisters!
We are obliged to deeply breathe the blessings and prosperity of this season. We are charged with preserving the divine traits that have been won thanks to Hajj, the sacrifices and the Eids. Hajj reminded us of getting to know the Almighty and how to be a sincere servants of Allah. So come let us always remember and worship Allah and not only during the holy season of Hajj. Let us be among those whop give life by calling out the name of the Almighty. We should never forget the Quranic verse “Do not be among those who forget the Almighty as Allah also makes them forget. These are those who have really veered off from the path.”2
Dear brothers and sisters!
Our sacrificial animals reminded us of clean and pure devotion to Allah and do what is permitted and never do what is forbidden. It has reminded us of distancing ourselves from deceit and being close to Allah. So come and let us seek ways to be closer to the Almighty not only with our sacrifices but through all forms of worship and good work. Let us go after goodness and beauties that will bring us closer to Allah and keep away from the negativities that will distance ourselves to the Almighty.
Brothers and sisters!
The Eid reminded us of being “one” and “united.” We became one like the building blocks of a construction and the organs of a body that work together. So come and let us bond together not only during the Eids but all the time. Let us preserve the notion of togetherness, unity and fraternity that was strengthened during Eid. Let us offer the benediction and blessings of Eid, the joy and happiness, the peace and calm to each other every day. Let us never neglect each other, never neglect our brothers and sisters, and let us never leave people hopeless and lonely. Let us live a life knowing that we are the followers of a Prophet who has been sent as a source of benediction.
Brothers and sisters!
Let us not forget that the world is a field for the Day of Judgment. You can earn your salvation on the Day of Judgment with what you do on earth. So let us use our passing life on earth to earn eternal peace and tranquility. Let us erase grudge, enmity and hatred from our hearts and souls and compete to spread affection, compassion and goodness throughout the world. Let us be worthy servants of Allah, worthy followers of the Prophet and become real brothers and sisters for each other. Let us reach the Almighty by living a life that we can account for on the Day of Judgment. Let us sail to eternal life all together.
