FRIDAY KHUTBA OF TOKYO CAMII “ISLAM: RELIGION OF PEACE AND WELFARE”

“ISLAM: RELIGION OF PEACE AND WELFARE”

Endless praise to the Almighty Allah (swt), who created us out of nothing, revealed his existence to us, blessed us with Islam, the religion of peace and soundness, and gathered us in this mosque with the spiritual atmosphere of Jum’a.
May peace and blessings be upon all of Allah’s (swt) prophets, from Adam to Abraham, from Moses to Jesus, and our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustapha (saw), who was sent to world as a mercy.
May the peace, mercy, blessing, compassion, and grace of Allah (swt) be upon us. I wish you a blessed Friday.

Dear Believers!
The Almighty Allah says: “O believers! Enter into Islam wholeheartedly and do not follow Satan’s footsteps. Surely he is your sworn enemy.”
In a Hadith, the Messenger of Allah (saw) states: “The merciful are shown mercy by Ar-Rahman. Be merciful on the earth, and you will be shown mercy from Who is above the heavens.”

Dear Brothers!
Islam, our exalted religion, is a religion of justice and kindness. Islam is a religion of tranquility and trust. It is a religion of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and civilization.
As stated in the verse, لِتُخْرِجَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ اِلَى النُّورِ (“This is a Book which We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ so that you may lead people out of darkness and into light”), Islam is the straight path that brings people from darkness to light, shows them the ways of goodness. Islam is a blessed invitation that conveys to the salvation in this world and the hereafter. Islam is the religion of life which offers all tranquility that the soul seeks and gives the happiness that all hearts desire.

Honorable Muslims!
“Al-Salam” is one of Allah’s (swt) most beautiful names. Muslims are the representatives of Allah’s name, “Salam”, in the world. Yet, he is the bringer of goodwill, he always chooses the side of peace, fosters trust in his environment, and contributes to the world’s tranquillity. As our Beloved Prophet (saw) stated, “Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the people are safe, and the believer is the one from whom the people’s lives and wealth are safe.”

Dear Brothers!
According to our noble religion, Islam, all human beings’ lives, minds, faith, property, and generation are inviolable, regardless of ethnicity and religion. Our Beloved Prophet (saw) states in his Farewell Sermon, in which he declared the universal principles of Islam to the world, “All mankind descended from Adam and Eve; an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab have any superiority over an Arab; similarly, a white has no superiority over a black, nor does a black have any superiority over a white, except through piety and good deeds. Piety is characterized by good morals, a sense of responsibility, and a heartfelt commitment to Allah’s (swt) commands.
Our religion requires us to develop relationships with all members of the society in which we live, based on goodness and fairness. It implies that we live in harmony and safety.

Esteemed Brothers!
Today, our obligation as Muslims is to use all of our means to promote peace and goodness. It is to contribute to the development of trust and peace everywhere we go. It is to combat evils that jeopardize a person’s bodily and mental wellbeing.
It is our obligation to respect Islam’s commands and to adhere to its guidelines. It is to infuse our lives with the great principles and splendors of Islam, thus best portraying Islam. Let us not forget that many people judge Islam based on our words and behaviors and accordingly either distance themselves from it or approach it on our behalf. Furthermore, let us not forget that it is preferable for a person to meet Islam rather than the world and the worldly as a result of our excellent words and deeds.

I would like to conclude today’s khutbah by demanding from Almighty Allah (swt) to make our tasks easier and lead us to success; Hereby, I also wish Allah’s mercy upon the martyrs of Ertuğrul Incident, who had passed away as a result of a tragic accident, for commemoration of 132nd anniversary as of today and to all the veterans and martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of our country.
