The Art of Uzbekistan: Rishtan Ceramics Workshop
Rishtan ceramics from Uzbekistan are known for their brilliant blue hues. Rishtan is not only a town, but also one of Central Asia’s most celebrated ancient centers for pottery.
Bakhtiyor Nazirov is a renowned ceramic artist from Rishtan. He began practicing pottery at a as a child, learning from his elder brother and traditional master artisans. From 1982 to 1997, he worked at the Rishtan Ceramic Factory. Since 2012, he has been pursuing an independent career.
His works have been exhibited internationally. He has led masterclasses and collaborated with artists around the world. His signature series, “Blue Ceramics of Rishtan”,has been featured in solo exhibitions in both Uzbekistan and Japan. Today, he continues the family tradition alongside his son.
