FRIDAY KHUTBA OF TOKYO CAMII “COME RUNNING, MOSQUES ARE BEAUTIFUL WITH YOU”

Honorable Muslims!
In verse I have recited, our Lord Almighty (SWT) states, “And know that your properties and your children are but a trial and that Allah has with Him a great reward.”^[i]

In the hadith I have read, the Messenger of Allah (saw) says, “There is no gift that a father gives his child more virtuous than good manners.”^[ii]

Dear Believers!
Our children are among the most valuable gifts Allah (SWT) entrusted us. They are the light in our eyes, the peace in our hearts, the joy of our family, and the security of our future. They are the most valuable and meaningful legacy we as mortal beings can leave behind under the dome of the sky.

Dear Muslims!
In one hadith, our Prophet (saw) says, وَإِنَّلِوَلَدِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا “Your child has rights over yours.”^[iii] Indeed, just as parents have rights over their children, so do children over their parents. Our fundamental responsibility is to provide our children’s essential requirements for food, drink, and shelter. In addition, it is also our responsibility to raise our children, who enter this world with a pure and clean disposition, with a sense of servitude to Allah (SWT) and a love of worship, and as good people and good Muslims.

Dear Believers!
Allah the Almighty (SWT) warns us, يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا قُٓوا اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَاَهْل۪يكُمْ نَاراً “O you who have believed! Protect yourselves and your families from a Fire.”^[iv]

Then, let us all hold our children’s hands with compassion. Let us make it possible for them to feel the Qur’an’s blessed atmosphere. May the light of the Qur’an shower down on our children’s hearts like raindrops bearing grace. Let us not forget that raising children who will remember us with gratitude, whose tongues never stop praying and reciting the Qur’an. The name of Allah (SWT), who is the same on the inside and the outside, has good morals and loving hearts, is both our peace in this world and our provision for the Hereafter.
